Friday Afternoon Club

Living in the mountains has made construction of a new home challenging.  When My FIL went to lay the foundation for our home he had to blast out a lot of rock.  In one corner he ran into bedrock.  After six sticks of dynamite he gave in and just built on top of it.  The result is the waterfall in the entry room.  The sound of the water falling is almost deafening.  We put in fountains to give us water circulation so we do not run the waterfall often.  It is still a nice water feature.  I added the plants and lights (like the blue one on the left).  This is what you see when you walk into our front door.

Our neighbor, Pavel, is hosting Friday Afternoon Club today.  Looks like I had better find a nice bottle of red wine and some snacks.  We will welcome Jennie and Mike, who have arrived in Sunshine for their stay at their summer house.  For those of you who are not familiar with FAC, it's a Friday after work (or school) party.  Friends (in our case the whole neighborhood) get together for a social gathering.  You only need to bring some food and beverage and a good attitude.  It should be a fun evening.

We had a visit from Hospice today.  Audie, my MIL, is pretty much confined to her bed, although she can still walk with help.  Hospice has delivered a hospital bed and all of the accessories.  We have moved the bedrooms around and she is in the room across from ours.  With a baby monitor, we can hear her call when she needs us.  As hard as things are right now, she is in good spirits.  Your prayers are greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

David

Wow, this is beautiful! Yeah, we had a huge aquarium in our house once. My husband built it using a door frame as a guide, so you get an idea of how big it was. Lined with rubber liner. Kept some smaller to medium size koi in it. For about a year it lasted. It was more like an indoor pond than an aquarium. There was a water fountain in the middle of it that sprayed water continuously... not much, but man, what a lot of noise. It always sounded like we were frying eggs in the kitchen. It helped aerate the water, which is why he kept the fountain going. When he dismantled it and put the fish in our outdoor pond, I never once missed the noise of that running water. Had it been a gentler sound, barely audible, perhaps I wouldn't have minded it. Yes I understand about how loud it can be... still, yours is aesthetically pleasing. Ourslooked like a large wooden box! You are quite the interior designer, David. Bea

Goodness, David, if that isn't the most beautiful entryway I've ever seen.  What a lovely thing to greet you as you walk in the door.  I pray that your MIL is comfortable and painfree.  It has to be so difficult to experience this.  Chris

That looks amazing.  I love bringing the outdoors inside, and that is the best I've seen.  Your pics from Oregon are awesome...I have always wanted to take a road trip to Oregon.  Dixie is now undecided on going to school in Colorado...she is having some second thoughts...I am growing new grey hair...grrrrrrr.  I want her to be sure.  Keep ya posted.  Take care,
Dwana

I love your house....... mother nature and man's world live contenly side by side. Cancer changes everything doesn't it? I haven't cried for myself yet, I cry for the people that my newly discovered cancer is affecting. I'm just too mad to cry for myself just yet.
